Desert Camel Trip

One or the most exciting things to do is visit the Sahara desert. Spend a night or two in a bedouine tent, under the millions of stars at night is an experience you will never forget. For this trip you need 3-4 days.

If you travel to Quarzazate you will pass the "Hollywood Studios of Morocco", where Lawerence of Arabia and Gladiator, Sahara, and many other movies were filmed. The famous Kasbah Taourirt is worthwhile a visit. It is one of the biggest and most beautiful Khalif residences of the famous Pashas of Marrakech, El Glaoul. As of today they live about 100 families in the Kasbah, where you can visit one part of it.

Gorge Dades: After Tinerhir you will go pass by the ravijns "Gorge Dades" with its impressive views. You will see many small villages lots of furtile land, with many growing fruit trees. Watch out for the caves in the mountain sides.

Erfoud is a nomad city. Erfoud has 10000 inhabitants. Many oasis's with Date Palm trees. End October there is a big Date Festival.

Merzouga is a small Oasis at the beginning of the Desert Dunes. Here starts the real desert, where you can experience the Sahara Sunrise or Sunset in the Dunes which is a spectacular view. The Dunes are up to 100m high. Very interesting is here also the overground and underground irrigation system to water the fruit and vegetable cultures.

You can also make friends with a Camel, "ship of the desert" and take a ride. You can also go for a search of nomad families.
